READING INSTRUCTION FOR DYSLEXIA
For individuals with dyslexia to be successful in school, at work, and in their communities, they must receive instruction in reading, spelling, writing, and math that is specifically tailored to fit their way of learning. All MDI centers offer instruction using an adapted form of the internationally known Orton-Gillingham Approach. All instruction is direct, structured, and delivered with multisensory teaching techniques. Most instruction is presented in a one-on-one situation; occasionally group instruction is appropriate. The goal is to enable students to develop independent skills.
All MDI instructors are trained and supervised by Fellows of the Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators, a national certification body incorporated under New York State Education Law.
